General Information
The Whitman College science division operates an X-ray diffractometer for research and coursework in a variety of disciplines. Our instrument is an Oxford Diffraction Xcalibur Nova with the following components:
Sealed tube microfocus X-ray source.
CCD detector.
Oxford Instruments Cryojet temperature controller (~100 - 500 K)
We also have two Leica stereomicroscopes with polarizing filters for sample inspection and mounting
This Wiki is intended as a knowledge base for users of the X-ray diffractometer.
The diffractometer was funded with a grant from the National Science Foundation (Award # 0723283).
